THE NILIT TRENDBOOK defines three trends for FALL-WINTER 2009/10 for Bodywear and highlights the yarns and colors best suited to these trends: THE NATURE OF THINGS. Inspired by the wonders of nature, an authentic spirit inspires essential bodywear with a soft and natural touch. Beautiful objects from the past are updated when combined with technology, and feminine, naïve styling is the key look. Trimmings with hand-made details adorn fabrics which feature raised surfaces, ribs, pointelle, and pin-tucks.
IT'S SHOWTIME! A wind of exhibitionism sweeps through bodywear striking up suggestive lingerie images with a sense of the theatrical. Retro cuts of corsets girdles and push-ups are reinterpreted and updated and are an essential part of the trend message. Flounces, bows and over-frilly details create a dramatic cabaret look in sensual satin, transparent panels and luxurious lace.
SCIENCE FICTION. A futuristic trend that combines technology with sensuality. Inspired by the elements of air, light and water, fluid and transparent fabrics highlight sensuality by creating feather-light garments with minimum construction. A new generation of ultra-light body-hugging garments have streamlined details and “no stitch” finishes to smooth and sculpt the body.
