The XIth of International Izmir Textile & Apparel Symposiums, being the first and unique textile and apparel symposium of Turkey and organized periodically since 1976 by Ege University Textile Engineering Department and Ege University Textile & Apparel Research Centre, has been held between the dates 26-29 October 2007 in Cesme-Izmir.
The aim of the symposium which was organized traditionally once every three years, is to exchange of information about the last innovations and to gather many attendants from textile and apparel industries both in Turkey and from abroad. We are proud of hosting more than 1,200 participants successfully as the previous symposiums.
We hope that this symposium contributes to establish close relations and to form an important base to the presentation of Turkey.
Gratitude plaques were presented by Prof. Dr. Ülkü BAYINDIR, Rector of Ege University, to Mr. Haydar AKIN, Mr. Halit NARIN and to Mr. Esat SIVRI for their valuable contributions in building and developing Turkish Textile & Apparel Industry in the opening ceremony on 26th of October.
Then in the evening a cocktail prolonger was organized by Turkish Textile Employers' Association, Mr. Halit NARIN being the host. On 27th of October, presentations about textile economy and a panel entitled ”Knowledge-intensive Textile Era” were presented.
The chairman of this panel was Süleyman ORAKCIOGLU, the chairman of Istanbul Ready Wear and Clothing Exporters' Association, and the participants were Prof. Dr. Vladan KONCAR (AUTEX), Prof. Dr. Paul KIEKENS (Ghent University), Loek de VRIES (Ten Cate) and Maura SCALIA (Euratex).
