Mr Kamal Nath to speak 8th India-EU Business Summit

The European Union (EU) Trade Commissioner, Mr Peter Mandelson, and the Minister for Commerce & Industry, Mr Kamal Nath will address the 8th India-EU Business Summit to be held in New Delhi on Thursday, November 29, 2007.

The summit on "Technology & Innovation for Sustainable Development," organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) in association with the Ministry of Commerce & Industry.

The Association of Portugal Industries (AIP), the European Business Group (EBG) and Business Europe are the European partners in co-organizing this business summit will focus on technological innovations for sustainable development to take a fresh look at innovative and new business opportunities between the two continents.

The EU Presidency lies with Portugal right now and hence the Prime Minister of Portugal Mr Jose Socrates, Prime Minister of Portugal will be attending the summit with a large business delegation of almost 50 Portuguese business men.

The Portuguese delegation will be joined by an equal number of European delegates from the EU. The Summit would address some key areas of concern, such as: Services and Trade (Developing Synergy Through Technology & Innovation), Public-Private Partnership (A Way For Economic Growth), Global Warming (Climate Change and Energy Security) and Infrastructure and Logistics (Building Sustainable Partnerships).

The 8th India-EU Business Summit aims to redefine the steps to facilitate and implement policies for growth, examine new vistas for boosting trade and investment, analyse centres of competencies & leverage them for mutual benefit, replicate significant success stories and recommend regulatory reforms to enhance business climate.

An important element of the Summit is the CEOs Round Table chaired by Mr kamal Nath & Mr Peter Mandelson. The Indian industry will be led by Mr Sunil Bharti Mittal, President CII and Mr Ricardo Salgado, Chairman of the Executive Committee of Banco Espirito Santo, on the EU side. The issues covered at this session is Trade & Investment Flow Issues and EU-FTA Issues.
