Store traffic counts likely down

3 min read

Late in the week, a strong storm gathered strength in the Southern Rockies dumping heavy rains and mountain snows across the southwest to include Arizona, New Mexico, and Colorado. Even much of Southern California saw measurable rainfall amounts on Friday. Much of the East ended the week dry.

Consumer Impact in the East/Mid-Western North America:
Store traffic counts improved by mid-week after enduring heavy wet (and white) weather. Seasonal demand levels improved against last years very warm temperatures (particularly in the wintry Midwest).

Consumer Impact in the Western Portions of North America:
Seasonal demand levels were within historical averages, but received a boost form the winter storm in the Plains and Rockies late week. Seasonably cool and dry weather in California provided an excellent selling environment.
