METRO opens 2nd bilingual co kindergarten 'Metro-Sternchen'

METRO Group opens its second bilingual company kindergarten “Metro- Sternchen“. With this move, the corporation is setting another example for the compatibility of family and career.
The new daycare center for children at the group's Düsseldorf headquarter provides another 65 kindergarten places for children aged between 4 months and 6 years so that a total of 130 places are now available.
“Given the large demand for daycare places we have decided to build a second Metro company kindergarten. As one of the largest employers in Düsseldorf, we recognize our corporate social responsibility.
We would like to contribute to a more family-friendly society and help our employees achieve a better balance between their family and professional lives“, said Zygmunt Mierdorf, Member of the Management Board of the METRO Group.
Of the 270,000 METRO Group employees worldwide around 5,500 work on the Düsseldorf campus. Also in future, the company does not want to do without well-trained female employees and executives.
A qualified daycare system for children plays an important role in this context. “With this move we are making an important investment into the future“, said Mierdorf.
Just like in the first Metro company kindergarten, the children at the second “Metro-Sternchen” will be cared for bilingually – in German and English.
This way, METRO Group is doing justice to the company's increasing internationalization: in Düsseldorf alone, people from 30 different countries work for the retail group.
