IMA aims to strengthen fashion education system

Istanbul Textile and Apparel Research and Development Centre (ITA). Istanbul Textile and Apparel Research and Development Centre (ITA) will be starting its operations in the first half of 2008 in Istanbul Textilepark.

By offering common use equipment, up-to-date technologies and skilled staff, ITA aims to improve SMEs' technological competitiveness. ITA will support the fashion business and education system with new technological developments and become a focus for innovative thinking, product and process development and network for local and global sources.

Istanbul Moda Academy (IMA). IMA aims to strengthen the fashion education system and be a focus for creative and industry networks including fashion professionals, designers, entrepreneurs, journalists, photographers and stylists.

Istanbul Moda Academy will be located in a beautifully renovated three floor building in the center of the fashion district of Istanbul, Nisantasi.

At outside having the advantages of being located at the heart of Istanbul, in the inside the school will benefit from a high standard, technological environment, extensive library, specialist studios and facilities for the next generation of fashion professionals.

In the beginning of 2008, IMA will start with comprehensive short courses and workshops on fashion design, marketing, product development and technology, retailing and media and continue in 2008 Fall with the academic courses.

The courses have been developed in collaboration with London College of Fashion, a well known fashion school in England, with 100 years of experience. The short courses' programs derive from the immediate demand and needs of the textile and apparel industry.

The courses will fall under the general categories of:
- Fashion Design
- Fashion Product Development and Technology
- Fashion Management and Marketing
- Fashion Retailing
- Fashion Photography and Media

Besides IMA staff, the courses will be tutored by local and international fashion consultants that are experts in their specialized areas and offer cutting edge, industry relevant inputs to the courses.

The short courses are designed to attract many interest holders in fashion: from students, stylists, photographers, journalists, fashion retail managers, fashion business owners to fresh and/or senior designers.

To be flexible enough for all interest parties to attend, the short courses' schedule will be flexible; from weekdays, weekday evenings to weekends.

At successful completion of courses, IMA in collaboration with London College of Fashion Certificate of Attendance will be granted.
