Costly raw materials & energy force fiber maker Lenzing to plan 5% price hike

Cellulose fiber technology leader The Lenzing Group is going to increase the prices of its fibers beginning in the 4th quarter. Increases of at least 5%, depending on fiber type are envisaged, taking effect on October 1st.

These apply to fibers for both textile and nonwoven applications. The Lenzing Group is taking this action in order to compensate for the considerable increase in raw-material and energy prices which have been severely impacting the fiber businesses for many months and have recently become more pronounced.

The price increases to be implanted are in line with the general trend in the field of synthetic fibers resulting from the increasing cost pressures that the industry has been forced to sustain.

Upper Austria located The Lenzing Group is a producer of man-made cellulose fibers. The fibers, made of wood, a renewable raw material, are used by the textile industry - for garments, home textiles and technical textiles - as well as by the nonwovens industry.
