Clariant has officially opened a new specialty chemicals manufacturing in Cota, Colombia producing a broad range of specialty chemicals and masterbatches. The facility represents an investment of approximately USD15 million and employs 218 people.

Clariant's Chief Executive Officer, Jan Secher, who led the inauguration ceremony at Cota commented: “Colombia is not only an important market for us but also an attractive production location with favorable conditions. Clariant sees good growth potential in Colombia, in particular in the oil services and mining area.”

In 2007 Clariant also strengthened its masterbatches and oil service capabilities in Colombia by acquiring MasterAndino, one of the country's largest masterbatches supplier, and Toschem, a leading supplier of chemicals for the oil and water treatment industry.
