The ECC took SBP Governor's views very seriously and asked the Ministry of Finance (MoF) to come up with some other strategy to help the textile industry to become more result-oriented to compete with other players in the world market in the future.
The textile industry's performance is a big question mark. Despite huge financial support from the government in different forms over the years, it has failed to deliver. Its share in exports is continuously declining and many special packages granted for it, by the government, have simply gone waste.
