An entirely new Toray Industries plant in China has commenced its trial operations and plans to start-up full scale production in this month itself.

Presently, Toray Polytech Nnatong (TNP) has an annual capacity of 18,000 tons of polypropylene spunbond-meltblown-spunbond (SMS) capacity.

An official from the company told Fibre2fashion that the first delivery of its product was made on March 21 and despite unreasonably high cost of production, Toray's sale of SMS is increasing rapidly. Very soon the company would install a second line at the TPN facility.

In addition to hygiene end-uses, TPN is also seeking to develop others, such as medical applications, in collaboration with the Toray Fibers and Textiles Research Laboratories.
