'Colour technology for best practice and sustainability in the global textile and apparel supply chain' is the title of the conference to be co-presented by the Society of Dyers and Colourists (SDC), the American Association of Textile Chemists & Colorists (AATCC) and the China Textile Information Center (CTIC) in Shanghai, 23–25 July 2008.

Sponsored by Clariant and DyStar, the 14-paper conference and associated mini-exhibition will focus on colour, colour chemistry, dyeing and finishing, with a distinct emphasis on environmental issues and sustainability.

The event has attracted an international line-up of speakers, many from household-name companies including Levi Strauss & Co., Marks & Spencer plc, Polo Ralph Lauren and JCPenney Co. China-based organisations will also be well represented. These include the China National Textile and Apparel Council, Gaiqi (China) KDG Company Ltd, the Hualian Garment Company and the New Wide Group.

The conference will run over three days, with the first day devoted to registration and the opportunity for delegates to visit the colour technology exhibition being staged alongside the event. The delegate package also includes a special banquet organised for the evening of the Thur 24 May.

Comments Susan Williams, SDC president and chair of the SDC conference steering committee, 'This is a unique collaboration and the Society is delighted to be working alongside both AATCC and CTIC to deliver such an important conference.”
