China-GCC hold negotiations for free trade & RoO

Last month during Sept. 28-29, 2005, crucial China-GCC Free Trade Area negotiations were held in capital Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, informs Ministry of Commerce website.

The Chinese delegation organized by the Ministry of Commerce, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Agriculture, China General Administration of Customs and General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of PRC held a negotiation with GCC delegation.

The two sides deeply exchanged views on issues of tariff reduction of cargo trade in Free Trade Area and rules of origin.

GCC is a regional economic organization in Gulf Area, including 6 members, which are Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar and Bahrain.

China-GCC Free Trade Area Negotiation was launched in July 2004 and the initial and second round of negotiation was held respectively in Riyadh and Beijing in April and June in 2005.
