The Terneuzen N2 cracker of Dow Chemical in Netherlands underwent a force majeure on June 2 after a mechanical break down on June 1 brought production to a halt.
A spokesperson from Dow confirmed to Fibre2fashion that after revamping of the plant, the cracker with an ethylene production capacity of 580,000 metric tons per year was back in operation from June 10.
Although, production at the cracker caught pace steadily it came in its full swing only by June 10.
The unforeseen shut down of the plant was unwished for, especially at a time when prices for ethylene were picking up steadily backed by volatile demand from the international market.
