The Paraxylene (PX) plant of Nippon Oil located at Oita, Japan, is presently undergoing a scheduled maintenance. The revamping was to start from June 10 and was planned to have carried on for the next 20 days.

Sources confirming the news to Fibre2fashion also stated that the plant which is a joint venture of Nippon Oil and Kyushu Oil, has an annual capacity of 400 kilo ton per year.

The official source also divulged that since Nippon's overall strategy is to focus on PX business, it is not contemplating any other expansion plans for the moment.

When asked why the Asian PX market was in a tight condition, the source asserted that low margins and other operational problems have led to run-cuts in Asian PX plants, hampering consistent production.
