An expansion plan worth Rs 3,900 crore has been unvield by Reliance Textile Industries for expanding the polyester, ethylene and purified terephthalic acid manufacturing capacity at its Hazira plant near Surat.
The expansion plan has got approval from the Government of India and the amount will be in addition to the Rs 42,600 crore capital expenditure plan in the petroleum refining and Exploration and Production (E and P) sectors the company had announced earlier.
Meanwhile, it is learnt that process for increasing the polyester manufacturing capacity to 20 tons a year (an increase of 550,000 tons) will be completed in 2005-2006.
Also, the ethylene cracker facility will be debottlenecked to raise its capacity from 750,000 tons to 1,000,000 tons. More than half of the project is expected to be completed during 2005-2006, and the rest during 2006-2007.
