ADVANSA, the largest polyester fibre manufacturer in Europe, announces today that due to the recent increase in Paraxlyene (PX), it will raise its prices to correspond with current market conditions.

Following recent price increases in raw materials, energy and other cost elements, the price of Paraxylene (PX) has reached levels at 100€/ton above any expectations for the month of July 2008. Such price levels of Paraxylene (PX) are forcing the polyester industry to react.

In order to secure a viable business, Advansa will thus increase its prices by 0.10 €/Kg with immediate effect on top of all current agreements.

According to Heinz Meierkord, ADVANSA's Vice President Marketing & Sales: “I know that this increase will put many businesses into equal difficult situation. However, in order to maintain a functional industry, these cost increases have to go down the value chain now.”
