Sparse business in cotton during holiday time

The trade received isolated enquiries during the past week, activated by the falling market in New York. Indeed, the conclusion of contracts came hardly into being, as, for example the prices for Central Asian cottons remained furthermore relatively firm due to limited availability.

Only in the Upland range were effected some turnovers. The delivery terms were fixed for prompt right after the holidays and until the fourth quarter. The current prices for ELS/LS cottons induced potential buyers to practise restraint.

The following turnovers in the Upland range were registered: West African types and Central Asian sorts for prompt and for dates in the 4th quarter 2008.
