Consumer prices rise in August

In August compared to July, consumer prices rose in total 0.2%. Prices of miscellaneous goods 0.3%. Prices decreased in branches: clothing and footwear 0.4 %, recreation and culture 0.2%. Prices of furnishings and also education remained at the level of the past month.

Price decreases in clothing and footwear were influenced by price cut of footwear by 0.6% and clothing by 0.4%.

Prices of glassware, tableware furniture and household utensils increased 0.5%, furnishings, carpets and other floor covering and household textile 0.1% in the branch of furnishings.

Prices of pre-primary, primary, secondary, tertiary education and education not definable by the level did not change in the branch of education.

Prices also increased in the branches: miscellaneous goods 2.8%, education 2.6%, clothing and footwear 1.3%, furnishings 0.7%.

Over the first eight months, consumer prices increased in total 4,4 % on average compared to the corresponding period in 2007.
