PTT Chemical MEG plant with annual capacity of 300,000 tons has closed down for month-long scheduled maintenance.
Confirming the news to Fibre2fashion, a company source said that the capacity of this unit at Map Ta Phut will expand to 3,95,000 tons after re-opening.
The official informed that Olefins plant is also under maintenance for 50 days. Total production of this plant was 300,000 tons per year and it will be raised by 150,000 tons, so as to touch capacity of 450,000 tons per year.
Talking about trend in the MEG market prices, the source said that future is uncertain. However, the current prices were quite low, as the demand was weak due to economic crunch and surge in supply.
