Antron carpet fibre maker INVISTA is the first carpet fibre manufacturers to be awarded an Environmental Profile by BRE Certification.

Environmental Profiles from BRE Certification are an internationally recognised third party certification awarded for products that demonstrate exceptional levels of environmental consideration in their sector.

The Environmental Profile ENP 337 for Antron fibres and yarns from the Oestringen Germany manufacturing site, demonstrates a significantly lower impact for Antron than the European fibre industry benchmark.

The certification process for Environmental Profiles identifies and assesses the environmental effects of building materials throughout their entire life cycle, including extraction, processing, construction, use and maintenance, and their eventual demolition and disposal.

This universal measuring system for building products enables manufacturers to independently demonstrate the environmental impact their products. It also helps designers and specifiers to identify products that will best fulfill sustainability requirements incorporated in the client brief.

Carpet manufacturers using Antron pile fibres will now also be able to take advantage of this lower environmental impact when their products are assessed and certificated by BRE Certification for Environmental Profiles.

The largest impact identified within the Environmental Profile ENP 337 is primary energy usage for melting and extrusion of the polymer, plus subsequent drawing, bulking, winding and cutting processes.
