At Techtextil, Schoeller unveils first results of piracy protection for all stages of textile production. Techtextil will take place in Frankfurt during June 16-18, 2009.

The worldwide damage caused by product counterfeiting is estimated at 200-300 billion Euro. The most well known companies and sought after brands are commonly affected. They invest huge sums in the development of new products, engage the most creative minds and spend millions on brand management.

Over the years a growing shadow economy of copies and knock-offs have surfaced in the same markets as the originals. They not only damage the image of the product but also the brand and often the knock-offs don't have the same performance and functions which then leads to dramatic consequences.

As a solution to this growing problem, the Swiss textile technology company Schoeller has developed a special “textile DNA”, that identifies the product and its unique design, or in other words, it's "unique genome”. One can detect a copy within seconds through a signal. This “textile DNA" is suitable for the whole spectrum of the textile manufacturing chain – thus for chemicals, fibers, textiles and finished products such as clothing or bags.
