Mill demand was lively in the past week. With regard to the cotton quotations in New York lower prices were expected at least at the beginning of the week under report. This could however not be confirmed by the merchants. The stronger US-dollar was levelled by the lower quotations for buyers on EURO-basis. In addition, the potential sellers in the countries of origin showed no trend to lower their prices. Thus, the local market took just limited quantities for short term covering.

In the Upland range turnovers were registered in Central Asian sorts for prompt and through the 2nd quarter 2010; West African styles for prompt and Greek descriptions for prompt and through the 2nd quarter 2010.

No sales figures for extra fine cottons this week.
