In line with its fifth strategic business unit, Rs 860-crore textiles and apparel corporation, S Kumars Nationwide Ltd proposes to invest approximately Rs 130 crore to build a plant for manufacturing high priced cotton fabric.

The plant will be located at Vapi, Gujarat and will be constructed by April 2006.

With other Indian textile companies, S Kumars is keen to exploit the opportunity provided by the post-quota regime.

Nitin Kasliwal, managing director, S Kumars Nationwide, said, the company was venturing into the high priced cotton fabric business. High quality product and superior design are its unique selling proposition.

The new plant will have the production capacity of 14 million metres of high-priced cotton fabric per annum. The finished products will be sold with the price tag of $100-$300 per shirt in the international market.

Yearly export of the company will be 6,000 million metres every year and all the products from Vapi plant will be exported to Europe and other developed countries, where there is a huge potential for this type of fabric, said Kasliwal. The plant will be operative by the end of 2007.
