Textile secretary R Poornalingam during the Economic Editors Conference stated that the presence of Indian textile brands in the international markets is still negligible, hence an area where future action lies.

His suggestion for domestic companies is to aim at acquiring global brands. Brand acquisition is the only viable route. As developing a brand in the current market scenario is both difficult and time consuming. Pearl Global chairman Deepak Seth informs that they could do it because they started early.

Pearl has also crossed domestic boundaries to establish a fashion institute in Bangladesh.
