Welspun Group to pump $481mn in Kutch home textile, sheeting facility

Home textile major and well diversified Welspun Group will invest another Rs 2,200 crore (nearly US$481 millions) at Anjar in Kutch district, informed B K Goenka, Vice-Chairman and Managing Director.
He said the present facility, established with an investment cost of Rs 1,300 crore, had been completed in record time and started commercial production of home textiles (terry towels and bed linen), steel pipes and pipe coatings.
Narendra Modi, Chief Minister of Gujarat, inaugurated the Welspun City at Anjar, yesterday.
Mr Goenka added that his Rs 2,500 crore Group now plans to establish a steel plate-cum-coil mill as part of backward integration to its existing pipe-manufacturing plan and spread out its textile wings by additional looms for towels and sheeting production.
