Staple fibre up 131%, manmade textiles exports down says SRTEPC

Nylon Filament fabrics exports amounting to Rs.10crores in September 2005 has declined by 55%. In the made-up category only Shawls/Scarves has shown a growth of 40%, where as exports of dress material, bed sheets and blankets have dropped by 64%, 40% and 6% respectively.

Export of yarn has shown a mixed trend of growth and decline. Polyester partially oriented yarn has shown an exceptional increase from Rs.2crores in September 2004 to Rs.30crores in September 2005. Polyester Textured yarn has also increased by 49%.
Nylon Filament Yarns are showing growth of 122%.

Polyester Filament yarn (flat yarn) and viscose Spun Yarn exports were down sharply by 67% and 41% respectively. Export of Polyester Wool blended yarn has shown a remarkable growth of 388%. Staple fibre has shown a growth of 131% valued at Rs.34.86crores. he major items in staple fibre viz. of polyester staple fibre (PSF) has increased by 444% and viscose staple fibre (VSF) has also shown a growth of 174%.

U.A.E., the largest market for Indian MMF textiles has shown a fall of 26%. USA, the second largest market, which witnessed a spectacular growth in 2004, has been showing a declining trend from the start of this year and in September 2005 it has declined by 4%.

In September 2005, Syria and Brazil have shown spectacular growth of 113% and 206% respectively. Pakistan, Colombia and Sudan have registered maximum growth during September 2005. Markets like Nigeria, Norway and Mozambique have shown maximum decline in the exports in September 2005.
