ITGLWF seeks better working facilities for Indian garment workers

The ITGLWF has called on the government to ensure that the workers receive exemplary compensation that reflects the suffering of the victims and their families and includes a lifetime pension to families of those who died as well as those who are incapacitated.

Earlier this week, following raids on embroidery workshops in the same district in which some 500 bonded child workers were released, the ITGLWF called on the Indian government to launch a national campaign to eradicate child labour in all its forms in the textile, garment and leather industries.
