Department of Statistics, Singapore released Overall retail sales in oct 2005 rose by 7.2 percent compared to Sep 2005. Excluding motor vehicles, the index rose by 8.0 percent.
Total retail value in oct 2005 was estimated $2502 million compared to $2334 million in sep 2005.
Most retail sector reported higher turnover in oct 2005.
The furniture and household equipment sector register the largest sales increase of 19.0 percent compared to sep 2005.
Shops of watches & jewelry and department stores reported strong growth of 15.0 percent and 13.0 percent respectively over previous month.
Sales of wearing apparel and footwear, supermarkets, motor vehicles and recreational goods also increased by 6 percent - 10 percent.
All retail sectors reported higher turnover compared to the same period a year ago.
In particular sales of food & beverages, furniture & household equipment, department stores, provision and sundry shops, telecommunication apparatus & computers, recreational goods and wearing apparel and footwear register strong growth of 11 percent - 19 percent over the previous year.
