The quotations of the Cotlook A Index as well as the Bremen CIF Index were only slightly higher on Tuesday than a week ago. A short decline of prices inducing a rising demand on the domestic market was observed from Thursday to Friday.

Apart from that only few enquiries led to contracts during the reported week. The processing industry did not seem to be very much interested in the available medium staple cotton. However, the domestic market registered increased sales in the long staple and extra long staple range primarily for delivery within the second quarter 2011.

Cotton from West Africa was sold for the 3rd quarter 2011 in the medium staple range.

In the long staple and extra long staple range contracts were closed for US Pima, Israel Pima, Israel Acalpi and Egyptian Giza 86 for the 2nd quarter 2011.

Moreover Sudan Barakat and US California SJV Acala rgd were traded for the 2nd and 3rd quarter 2011.
