Cotton yarn prices steadied in Ludhiana on Monday after easing last week. Demand remained weak amid uncertainty about the future. A trader from the Ludhiana market told Fibre2Fashion, “Buyers in the cotton textile value chain are waiting and postponing purchases. They need clarity on demand after the additional ** per cent tariff comes into effect on August **. Spinning mills are avoiding price cuts and will formulate a strategy once the market direction becomes clearer.”
In Ludhiana, ** count cotton combed yarn was sold at ****;***-*** (~$*.**-*.**) per kg (inclusive of GST); ** and ** count combed yarn were traded at ****;***-*** (~$*.**-*.**) per kg and ****;***-*** (~$*.**-*.**) per kg, respectively; and carded yarn of ** count was noted at ****;***-*** (~$*.**-*.**) per kg today, according to trade sources.
