A new China-Europe freight train route, which links southwest China’s Chongqing municipality with Melzo in Italy, has been recently launched. A freight train, run by the China-Europe Railway Express (Chongqing), left from Chongqing on July 9 and will first reach Melzo after which it will proceed to Verona, which is a tourist city located in northern Italy.

The entire trip, from Chongqing to Verona, will take around 22 days. “The train is carrying goods worth $10 million, which include daily necessities, clothing, household appliances, and machinery equipment, mainly from the eastern and southern regions of China,” said Qi Dan, general manager of Yuxinou (Chongqing) Logistics Co., Ltd, as quoted by Chinese media reports.

The China-Europe Railway Express (Chongqing), which was inaugurated in March 2011, now manages nearly 40 routes reaching almost 100 cities in Asia and Europe.
