A panel discussion titled 'Smart Fabrics: The need of the hour' was recently hosted as part of the ongoing F2F Sourcing Show 2020—the virtual fair being organised by Fibre2Fashion for the global textile-apparel industry. The virtual trade expo is garnering enthusiastic response with visitors from all over the world logging in.

In the Auditorium room of the virtual fair, visitors can see the panellists deliberate on the need for investing and promoting smart fabrics that are developed by incorporating new technologies to give added value to the wearer. The panellists are Mukesh Bansal, senior vice president, Vardhman Group; Subrata Ghosh, vice president, Nandan Denim Limited (Chiripal Group); and Narsimha Murthy, assistant vice president, Jaya Shree Textiles Limited (Aditya Birla Group).

Smart fabrics have technological components woven into them, which for example, help medical professionals monitor external stimuli and respond accordingly.

The panel discussion was moderated by Deepti Lahane, general manager—Market Intelligence, at Fibre2Fashion.
