Philippines' manufacturing growth slows to 1.8% in June

The value of production index (VaPI) for the Philippine manufacturing sector saw a slower year-on-year (YoY) increase of 1.8 per cent in June this year from a 3.1-per cent YoY rise in May.

In June 2024, the VaPI for manufacturing recorded a YoY increase of 3.6 per cent.

One of the contributors to the slower increase in the annual growth rate of VaPI for manufacturing in June 2025 was the 14-per cent YoY decrease in the manufacture of chemicals and chemical products in the month compared to a 9.1-per cent YoY drop in May.

The country’s volume of production index (VoPI) for the manufacturing sector in June 2025 saw a slower YoY increase of 2.2 per cent from a 3.4-per cent YoY rise in May. In June 2024, it saw an annual increment of 3.8 per cent, an official release said.

The value of net sales index (VaNSI) for manufacturing saw a slower YoY rise of 5.4 per cent in June this year from a 6.1-per cent YoY increase in May. In June 2024, it saw an annual increase of 2.9 per cent.

The volume of net sales index (VoNSI) for sector registered a slower YoY increase of 5.9 per cent in June 2025 relative to its annual increment of 6.5 per cent in May. In June 2024, it posted an annual increase of 3.1 per cent.

The average capacity utilisation rate for the manufacturing sector in June was 76.6 per cent; it was 77 per cent in May 2025 and 74.9 per cent in June 2024.
