Indian minister for textiles, commerce, and industry, Piyush Goyal, recently discussed the strategic roadmap to help India reach a milestone of $250 billion in textile production and $100 billion in exports by 2030. The discussion took place during the Chintan Shivir, a brainstorming event organised by the ministry of textiles on July 18, 2023.

Goyal stressed the importance of an integrated approach to invigorate the textile sector, urging the officials to generate innovative ideas and focus on reforming the institutional structure for better service delivery. The need to be globally competitive was a key point in his interaction, the ministry of textiles said in a press release.

The Chintan Shivir brought together officers from across the country, facilitating group brainstorming sessions on five crucial themes: boosting exports, investment, building size and scale, sustainability, and transition from natural to man-made fibres. The groups presented detailed recommendations and solutions to various challenges posed to the sector.

Union minister of state for textiles, Darshana Jardosh, inaugurated the session, underlining the significance of the textile industry in India's economic growth. She called for collective attention towards nurturing growth in all segments of the value chain.
