Progress under Sustainability Compact is fantastic: EU

Social dialogues are required to ensure workers' safety at their workplaces, which was absent before the Rana Plaza incident. He added that social dialogues are effective for finding solutions to problems between owners and workers, according to Bangladeshi media reports.

Members of the European Parliament who recently visited Bangladesh said that the garment sector has played an important role in the country's growth. They also added that there have been significant improvements in work place safety in the last four years after the Rana Plaza incident.

The delegation of the European Parliament also mentioned that the International Labor Organization (ILO) has asked Bangladesh to address issues like Bangladesh Labour Act, with the UN core labour convention modalities for establishing trade unions, full alignment of the EPZ draft law and the trade unions' right to operate freely.
