Final demand prices were unchanged in June and moved up by 0.4 per cent in May.
On an unadjusted basis, the index for final demand advanced by 3.3 per cent for the 12 months ended in July—the largest 12-month increase since rising by 3.4 per cent in February 2025.
Prices for final demand goods increased by 0.7 per cent MoM in July 2025, the largest advance since rising by 0.7 per cent in January, a BLS release said.
The index for final demand less foods, energy and trade services moved up by 0.6 per cent MoM in July—the largest increase since rising by 0.9 per cent in March 2022. For the 12 months ended in July, prices for final demand less foods, energy, and trade services advanced by 2.8 per cent.
Import prices from China increased by 0.2 per cent MoM in July, the first monthly advance since the index increased by 0.4 per cent in October 2022. Such The price index for such imports fell by 2.4 per cent year on year (YoY) in the month.
Prices for imports from Japan increased by 0.5 per cent MoM in July following decreases of 0.1 per cent in June and May. The price index for such imports increased by 1.3 per cent YoY in the month—the largest YoY advance since the index rose by 1.5 per cent in January 2024.
In July, import prices from Mexico increased by 0.8 per cent MoM after rising by 0.1 per cent MoM the previous month—the largest MoM increase since the index rose by 1.1 per cent in July 2024.
The index for import prices from the European Union increased by 1 per cent MoM in July and prices for imports from Canada rose by 0.6 per cent MoM. Despite the most recent monthly advance, import prices from Canada declined by 3.4 per cent YoY in the month.
In July, prices for exports to China increased by 1.2 per cent MoM—the largest monthly advance since the index rose by 2.4 per cent in October 2024. The price index for such exports rose by 1.1 per cent YoY in the month.
Prices for exports to Japan decreased by 0.7 per cent MoM in July following a rise of 0.4 per cent MoM in June and a decline of 1.3 per cent MoM in May. The price index for such exports rose by 0.3 per cent YoY in the month.
The export price index for Canada increased by 1.7 per cent MoM in July—the largest monthly rise since the index advanced by 3 per cent MoM in March 2022.
US export prices to the European Union advanced by 0.3 per cent in July and export prices to Mexico were unchanged, after rising by 0.8 per cent in the previous month.
