SIMA CD&RA elects new officer bearers

The South Indian Mills Association Cotton Development & Research Association (SIMA CD&RA) recently elected R Elango, managing director (MD) of Sangeeth Textiles Ltd, Coimbatore, as its chairman for 2018-19. R Ravichandran, director of Veejay Yarns & Fabrics Pvt Ltd, was elected deputy chairman and Laven Technoblend Ltd MD G Venkatramachandran, vice chairman.

The new office bearers were elected at the 43rd annual general meeting of the association in Coimbatore, according to a SIMA press release.

Elango is a member of the Indian Texpreneurs Federation board and a member of the yarn committee in TEXPROCIL.

The primary objective of SIMA CD&RA, established in 1974 by the textile mills in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Pondicherry, is to enhance cotton production, productivity and fibre quality so that raw cotton is made available at reasonable prices to textile mills. (DS)
