SIMA elects new office bearers for 2017-18

The Southern India Mills' Association (SIMA) has elected new office bearers for 2017-18 at its 58th annual general meeting. The new members unanimously elected P Nataraj, KPR Mill Limited MD, as the chairman, SCM Textile Spinners MD K Vinayakam as the deputy chairman and Ashwin Chandran, Precot Meridien Limited MD as the vice-chairman of SIMA for 2017-18.

Nataraj, a science graduate and fellow member of Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, is a member of the committee of Confederation of Indian Textile Industry (CITI) and also the vice-president of Indian Cotton Federation. Vinayakam is also the managing director of The Chennai Silks. A product of The Chennai Silks has earned World Guinness record in the textile field for 'The Richest Saree' in the world. Chandran, a B.Sc., (Hons) graduate in textile technology, UMIST, UK and post-graduate (MBA) from University of Illinois, US, is a member of Cotton Textiles Export Promotion Council, Mumbai and Confederation of Indian Textile Industry.

The AGM coincided with the 11th edition of Textile Pinnacle (Texpin), the conference for chief executive officers of the industry. The CEO conference provided necessary information for the captains of the industry to face challenges, grab opportunities, update their knowledge in textile business and successfully manage their business.
