  • South India's cotton yarn market is seeing muted summer demand, keeping prices mostly steady despite slight easing in select weft varieties. Labour shortages are constraining weaving activity, while spinning mills are facing mounting pressure from weak lifting. In Gujarat, cautious buying and CCI's MSP procurement are reshaping seed cotton availability and supporting price stability.

In Mumbai, most counts and varieties of cotton yarn were traded at steady levels, with the exception of ** carded weft, which dipped by &#****;** per kg. Cotton yarn lifting remained slow because demand for fine fabric has not improved. A Mumbai-based trader told Fibre*Fashion, “Demand for fabric used in the summer season has not picked up. Power looms and auto looms are also facing labour shortages as worker presence remains very low, affecting production activities.”

In Mumbai, ** carded yarn of warp and weft varieties were traded at &#****;*,***-*,*** (approximately $**.**-$**.**) and &#****;*,***-*,*** per * kg (approximately $**.**-$**.**) (excluding GST), respectively. Other prices include ** combed warp at &#****;***-*** (approximately $*.**-$*.**) per kg, ** carded weft at &#****;*,***-*,*** (approximately $**.**-$**.**) per *.* kg, **/** carded warp at &#****;***-*** (approximately $*.**-$*.**) per kg, **/** carded warp at &#****;***-*** (approximately $*.**-$*.**) per kg and **/** combed warp at &#****;***-*** (approximately $*.**-*.**) per kg, according to trade sources.
