  • South Indian cotton yarn prices remained largely steady despite spinning mills attempting to raise rates to offset higher cotton costs. Buying activity improved marginally in Mumbai and Tiruppur, but weak demand from garment and fabric segments continued to cap gains. A trader from the Mumbai market told Fibre*Fashion, “Mills are looking to hike cotton yarn prices by &#****;** per kg as production costs have risen due to costlier cotton. However, traders and stockists managed to secure an increase of only about &#****;* per kg for finer counts. If fabric demand improves next year, cotton yarn prices may rise further.”

In Mumbai, ** carded yarn of warp and weft varieties were traded at &#****;*,***-*,*** (~$**.**-**.**) and &#****;*,***-*,*** per * kg (~$**.**-**.**) (excluding GST), respectively.
