On October *, ****, major political groups in the European Parliament backed a scaled-back version of the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD), setting much higher entry thresholds than originally planned. The directive will now apply only to companies with at least *,*** employees and €*.* billion in global turnover—up sharply from *,*** employees and €*** million.
A plenary vote later in October is expected to confirm Parliament’s position before the file moves into negotiations with the Council, which has already indicated support for similar limits.
