Fifteen Tanzanian design enterprises learned about US market opportunities at a recent workshop in Dar es Salaam organised by the US Agency for International Development (USAID) East Africa Trade and Investment Hub. The companies were offered technical insights into US home textile market trends, buyer expectations and product and colour trends.

Margaret Bishop, an expert in textile and apparel production and quality management, conducted the workshop, according to a press release from USAID.

The training is expected to improve the companies’ competitiveness and access to the US market.

Bishop also held one-to-one meetings with the enterprises and offered technical expertise on product development. She declared four of the enterprises export-ready and gave the others advice on how they too could become export-ready. (DS)
