The United States has imposed 145-per cent tariffs on Chinese goods entering the US market. For India, the tariff is 10 per cent.
FIEO director general Ajay Sahai said US sourcing companies in China are in touch with Indian manufacturers through diplomatic channels to buy goods from India and export to America to bypass the high tariffs.
He anticipated tremendous opportunities for Indian exporters due to the US high tariffs on China, as per Indian media reports.
Chinese firms are eager to pass on export orders they receive to Indian companies for a commission so that shipments continue and their business ties with the United States are intact, Sahai said.
Several Beijing-based units have approached Indian manufacturers at the Canton Fair in Guangzhou, he noted.
