Turkey apparel exports up 1.7% in Jan-Feb 2019

Apparel exports from Turkey increased by 1.7 per cent in the first two months of 2019, according to the data from the Turkish Statistical Institute. From January to February 2019, Turkey exported apparel worth $2.504 billion, compared to exports of $2.46 billion clocked during the first two months of 2018, the data showed.

Category-wise, exports of knitted and crocheted clothing and accessories (HS chapter 61) earned $1.430 billion during the two-month period, registering a decrease of 0.2 per cent over exports of $1.432 billion during the corresponding period of the previous year.

Exports of non-knitted apparel and accessories (HS chapter 62) were valued at $1.074 billion, up 4.4 per cent from $1.028 billion exports made in the same period of 2018.

Meanwhile, exports of carpets, mats and tapestries (HS chapter 57) were up 7.2 per cent to $367.167 million during the period under review. (PC)
