The unemployment rate was estimated at 8.6 per cent in the month—an increase of 0.2 percentage point (pp) MoM; it was an estimated 7.1 per cent for men and 11.4 per cent for women.
The number of employed persons decreased by 18,000 MoM to 32.452 million in June. The employment rate was 48.9 per cent—a decrease of 0.1 pp MoM; it was 66.2 per cent for men and 31.9 per cent for women.
The number of persons in the labour force was 35.498 million—a MoM rise of 33,000, the government’s Household Labour Force Survey found.
The labour force participation rate was 53.5 per cent without any change; it was 71.3 per cent for men and 36.0 per cent for women.
The youth unemployment rate in the 15-24 age group was 16.2 per cent—a rise of 0.6 pp MoM; it was 12.3 per cent for men and 23.7 per cent for women.
