UK's GDP falls 0.6%, production up by 0.2% in Sept 2022: ONS

In September 2022, UK’s gross domestic product (GDP) declined by 0.6 per cent, while the country’s overall production went up by 0.2 per cent. UK’s manufacturing of textiles wearing apparel and leather products went up by 0.11 percentage points in the month of September, according to data released by the Office for National Statistics (ONS).

The monthly GDP is now estimated to be 0.2 per cent below its pre-coronavirus (COVID-19) levels (February 2020).

Looking at the quarterly picture, GDP fell by 0.2 per cent in the three months to September 2022 compared with the three months to June 2022.

The wholesale and retail trade declined by 0.2 per cent, according to data released by the ONS.

Production of electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply grew by 1.5 per cent and was the largest contributor to growth in production in September 2022.
