Italy is an increasingly important market for the UK textile industry, as both markets share an appreciation for luxury and quality and are recognised as leaders in sustainable and ethical supply chains. The show is gaining in importance in the international textile calendar because of the importance of the Italian industry, its dateline for US buyers, and the quality of its selection, UKFT said in a press release.
UKFT’s presence at the event is made possible in partnership with the Worshipful Company of Clothworkers, the department for business and trade, and British Wool.
This season, the British exhibitors at Milano Unica include Alfred Brown, Bower Roebuck, British Millerain, City By Liberty Fabrics, Fox Brothers, Halley Stevensons, Harris Tweed Hebrides, John Foster 1819, Joshua Ellis, Kynoch of Scotland, Laurent Garigue Partnership, Liberty Fabrics, Magee Weaving, Moon, Pongees, Savile Clifford, Stephen Walters, and William Halstead.
Visitors to the UKFT stand at Milano Unica (4F09) will be able to interact with and discover a wide choice of British textiles, as well as touch and compare different kinds of British wool. UKFT will be promoting the quality, innovation, and creativity of the British textile sector to international buyers and press at Milano Unica, as well as through its digital British Textile Week campaign, added the release.
UKFT’s presence at Milano Unica was preceded by a visit to Premiere Vision and UKFT’s president Princess Anne's attendance at the 92nd Textile Institute World Conference in Huddersfield.
Adam Mansell, CEO of UKFT, said: “This group of UK exhibitors at Milano Unica are real specialists in their fields, offering uniquely British fabrics that are loved by discerning buyers in key luxury markets around the world. We are delighted to be able to showcase their expertise, creativity, and craftsmanship built up over generations in woollen and worsted fabrics, noble fibres, tweeds, and tartans, prints, and embellishment. We look forward to telling the story of sustainability and traceability in the UK supply chain as well as the UK’s world-leading commitment to ethical trade— making the world a better place by being kind to both planet and people.”
