Washington DC-based National Council of Textile Organizations (NCTO) and the American Fibre Manufacturers Association (AFMA) in Arlington, Virginia, will merge with effect from April 1 this year, it was announced recently. The merged organization will retain the name of NCTO, whose president and CEO Auggie Tantillo will continue in that position.

NCTO feels the merger will strengthen the US textile industry’s ability to influence government policy, extend the organization’s political reach and cement NCTO’s status as the voice of every facet of the US textile production chain, according to a statement issued by the two organisations.

AFMA also feels the new organisation will ensure US fibre manufacturers have an effective voice on policy matters affecting the sector. (DS)
