US' textiles & apparel imports down 2.37% in Jan-July 2024

In the first seven months of ****, apparel imports, which constitute the majority of US textile imports, fell by *.** per cent to $**.*** billion, compared to $**.*** billion in the same period of ****. However, non-apparel imports rose by *.** per cent to $**.*** billion, as reported by the US Department of Commerce&#**;s Major Shippers Report.

Among the top ** suppliers of apparel, Bangladesh and Mexico saw increases of over ** per cent during the period. Imports from these countries grew by **.** per cent and **.** per cent, respectively. Imports from Cambodia and Pakistan also increased by *.** per cent and *.** per cent, respectively. Imports from China decreased by *.** per cent, from Vietnam by *.** per cent, from India by *.** per cent, from Indonesia by *.** per cent, from Honduras *.** per cent, and from Italy by *.** per cent.
