During the first nine months of ****, apparel imports, which form the majority of US textile imports, decreased by *.** per cent to $**.*** billion, down from $**.*** billion in the same period of ****. However, non-apparel imports rose by *.** per cent to $**.*** billion, according to the US Department of Commerce’s Major Shippers Report.
US’ apparel imports from Cambodia grew by *.** per cent, while those from Pakistan rose by *.** per cent. Apparel imports from India and Vietnam also saw gains of up to *.** per cent. In contrast, imports from China fell by *.** per cent, Bangladesh by *.** per cent, Indonesia by *.** per cent, Mexico by *.** per cent, Honduras by *.** per cent, and Italy by *.** per cent.
